I took these at the Boston Tea Party rock club in June 1969. I think this was Dr. John's first national tour after his first album Gris-Gris, which I heard on WBCN. I went backstage between sets, asked to take pictures — he was very generous, offering me a variety of poses. He put on a wild show, and was my first introduction to New Orleans. The next dose I got was in 1977 when I picked up the Wild Tchoupitoulas album. By the way his opening act in Boston was the unknown Allman Brothers.
